CBD For Insomnia: Guide

CBD For Insomnia: Guide

Can CBD Help You Sleep?

One of many naturally occurring cannabinoids in cannabis plants is cannabidiol (CBD). Some people who have trouble falling or staying asleep use CBD products, including CBD oil, to treat their symptoms. Unfortunately, additional research is required to confirm the benefits of CBD oil for treating insomnia because of the constraints on testing hemp/cannabis, but the results thus far are encouraging. Additionally, according to this research, CBD may provide a natural alternative for those who struggle with sleep difficulties.

CBD for Sleep and Insomnia Research

Most adults require at least seven hours of sleep each night, but the quality of sleep is just as significant as quantity. However, those who suffer from insomnia may have a range of difficulties, including difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, long stretches of nighttime vigilance, and problems feeling rested enough throughout the day. Before consulting a doctor about prescription medications, some persons who experience insomnia, whether it be a temporary problem brought on by certain circumstances (such as a time of stress) or a persistent, long-term problem, may want to think about using natural sleep aids. Some people think CBD works well as a sleep aid. Because of this, HempWell has developed its line of Sleep Aid Tablets, which include CBD, 5-HTP, and lavender to help you get a good night’s rest.

It’s crucial to attempt and determine what is causing a person’s sleep problems in the first place in order to understand whether CBD could improve that person’s sleep. There are a number of causes of insomnia, including but not limited to:

  • Mental health disorders like stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Medication (some can disturb your natural sleep cycle)
  • Physical annoyances like persistent pain or restless legs syndrome
  • Caffeine (especially when consumed late in the day)
  • Environmental elements such as loud noise or excessive light

Can CBD aid in sleep?

The authors of this 2015 review discovered evidence that points to CBD’s potential as a successful treatment for a variety of anxiety conditions. This research is encouraging if anxiety is the primary contributor to insomnia. 2019 research examined if CBD may enhance sleep and/or lessen anxiety. In the first month of the study, 79.2% of the participants reported less anxiety and 66.7% said they slept better. The same study also discovered that some people’s cortisol levels were decreased. Since cortisol, a stress hormone, often peaks in the morning, having elevated cortisol at night might affect both the quantity and quality of sleep.

CBD may also be able to alleviate pain, which can interfere with sleep. There is evidence to back up the notion that CBD reduces pain, according to a 2018 paper. The review’s authors point out that CBD may enhance sleep quality by easing chronic discomfort. It is important to note that patients who participated in several of the research mentioned here did not experience an instant improvement in their sleep. After using CBD regularly for up to a month, better sleep was more likely. When experimenting with CBD, keep in mind that it takes time to work.
